Ubuntu Linux and Compiz Fusion: A Match Made in Heaven

I have recently decided to drop Windows from my life (at least at home). I have chosen Ubuntu linux to be my desktop OS of choice. I found a lot of YouTube vids detailing the use of Ubuntu and Compiz Fusion that have peaked my interest in trying it out.

This is one of the better ones (minus the obvious Hillary Duff fascination the guy has).

I think you’re doing it the right way, jump into Linux and just figure things out. Some things won’t necessarily be quite as possible, others become simple as you learn more. I still consider myself a newbie-intermediate Linux user, and I google a LOT of my own questions.

If you get Wine and WoW to work, I’d totally love to see you post about doing it. I tried it back in the day, but my laptop was just a bit underpowered with WoW on Windows anyway, so I got a new gaming machine and didn’t retry to get it working on Ubuntu.

But yeah, the hard part of Linux is the first few weeks where you know you can do some things faster on Windows if you just went back to it….and many people do. But if you stick out the first few weeks, find x y z things you want to do with it, get them done (or proven to not be easy at all!), the rest is really not bad. Pretty soon you’ll be equally as efficient on either OS!
